( Back )
Answer #1:
Bring you bilfold.......anything within 100 miles of Key Largo is expensive...............spend the extra money and get a two person airboat ride.............worth it...........Answer #2:
Hotels/timeshares are expensive anywhere near the keys!Have you considered camping (tent or RV)? Click Here It's how people from further north in FL enjoy a keys vacation.
I highly recommend staying at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park on Key Largo. (Click on About the Park for camping info. Click Here ) It is exceptionally popular w/divers.
Spend the day at the beach, snorkeling, diving, take a boat tour. It's 1 hour south of Miami, 1/2 hour to the edge of the Everglades (2 hours to the Visitor Center deep in the swamp in Flamingo, FL), & 2 1/2 hours north of Key West.
Don't forget your sunscreen, bug repellent, & citronella candles!
Answer #3:
I just went! I'm only 13 but we're not the kind of family that goes shopping and to Disney and stuff.Everglades was pretty interesting, you see alot of alligators and wildlife.
In Key Largo, a good place to snorkel/scuba dive is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. I went snorkeling and it was amazing with all the different kinds of tropical fish.
If you're the beach type, Sanibel Island, which is near Fort Myers, has great beaches with a lot of shells, if you like to find shells. It doesn't have many shops and tourist traps.
Have fun!
